The Silent Killer of Success
You’ve worked hard, built something incredible, own a freakin’ business, and yet… you still feel like you don’t deserve to be in the room.
You’re waiting for someone to call you out, to expose you as a fraud.
Sound familiar? That’s imposter syndrome at play, and it’s holding too many women entrepreneurs I know back from the success they deserve.
We as women in business face unique challenges – some that are not talked about enough in the business space for entrepreneurs — balancing ambition with expectations, proving our worth in male-dominated industries, work-life balance or as I like to call it, ‘work-life integration’, balancing how much we love our work while we love parenting, battling self-doubt that whispers, “You’re not good enough.”
This inner critic aka. ourselves doesn’t just slow you down—it leads to self-sabotage.
You hesitate to raise your prices, delay launching your big idea, or downplay your success. I know this, because I’ve been there before. We all live through this.
Instead of stepping forward, you shrink back, letting opportunities pass you by.
The truth? You are not an imposter. You are capable, deserving, and powerful. And the harder truth? You’re self sabotaging yourself and putting yourself back into the confined box, when you should be sharing your limitless potential with the world.
Here’s some tips I personally wanted to share in how to silence self-doubt, the inner critic that is you, and step fully into your success to become your best and biggest cheerleader:
Become aware of how you’re talking to yourself: As you begin to see how hard you can be on yourself, keep track with a posted note, how many times you catch yourself downplaying yourself. This helps to begin the process of self identifying and knowing when/how to stop yourself from going there.
Reframe Your Inner Narrative: Every time you hear, “Who do you think you are?” respond with inner statements or affirmations like: “I am exactly who I need to be,” “I deserve this” or “Watch me do what I was meant to do.”
Keep a Confidence File: Save emails, testimonials, messages from others, lists of gratitude and wins—review them whenever doubt creeps in and you need to fill your cup with a reminder of all the positives you have.
Moving from a fixed mindset to growth mindset: Research proves that shifting from a fixed mindset (“I’m not good at this”) to a growth mindset (“I can learn this”) drastically increases confidence and success. I’m always amazed at how many entrepreneurs haven’t heard of this concept before.
Act Before You Feel Ready: Perfectionism fuels imposter syndrome. As Craig Ballentyne, a business coach I respect and admire shares, ‘Action Beats Anxiety.’ Take a step forward, hell take the leap before you feel 100% ready. THAT is where the secret sauce of business lies.
Stop Comparing Yourself: The highlight reels you see online are not the full story. Focus on your growth, not someone else’s journey. And remind yourself that the growth journey you’re on adds to the ‘brand story’ that helps to share, tell and share who you are and what you do for others.
Stay Neutral: This is a concept I recently learned from mental strength training coach, Trevor Moawad who worked with sports greats and teams. We don’t always need to be on the positivity train, and we also don’t want to be focusing on the negative. Sometimes the best place to be is ‘neutral’ and that takes time and awareness to be able to train our minds to get to this place.
Invest in Yourself: Coaching, training, and mentorship are not luxuries—they’re essential for personal and business growth. I’m always surprised at how many business owners haven’t invested in themselves
Studies show that 70% of successful people experience imposter syndrome—all the greats have admitted to it, even including icons like Oprah Winfrey.
The difference? She didn’t let it stop her. She kept going. Two books that can be really powerful in this space are Feel the Fear and Do it Anyways and Mindset by Carol Dweck.
It’s time to stop playing small. If you’re reading this, this is your sign.
You don’t need more qualifications—you need more confidence. In yourself, what you have to offer, your limitless potential and the value you have to offer to others.
If you’re ready to break free from self-doubt and step into the powerful entrepreneur you were meant to be, let’s talk. I’d love to start helping you own your success.
